SharePoint Regional/Time zone Setting

You can set regional/time zone setting these ways.
1. web application
: central administration -> Application Management -> Manage web application -> general settings -> select time zone

2. site setting
: site settings -> Regional settings -> select Locale and Time Zone

3. user setting
: My Settings -> My Regional Settings -> untick ‘Always follow web settings’ -> select Locale and Time Zone

* update time zone in the web application level with powershell script

$timezone = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPregionalSettings]::Globaltimezones | where-object { $_.Description -like “*perth*” }

$webApp = Get-SPWebApplication “http://test.com.au”
$webApp.DefaultTimeZone=$timezone.ID;
$webApp.Update()
$webApp.ProvisionGlobally()

the defaulttimezone will be -1 if you haven’t set the value of time zone and SharePoint will use SharePoint Server System(windows) time zone.
